Sam Mostyn AC meets ASA’s young neurodivergent data analysts to see neurodiversity in the workplace in action

Adelaide, South Australia – 19 September 2024 – Australian Spatial Analytics (ASA), one of Australia’s largest and fastest-growing work-integrated social enterprises, welcomed Her Excellency General the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia at our Adelaide office on Thursday, 19 September 2024.

Sam Mostyn AC is widely known for her experience and commitment to social justice and equality. During her visit, she toured ASA’s Adelaide office and spoke with many of our team members about how a neurodivergent-friendly workplace benefits autistic, dyslexic, and other neurodivergent Australians.

During her visit, Sam Mostyn MC said, "I have enjoyed learning about the impact Australian Spatial Analytics are having. Creating a welcoming environment that matches talented young people with opportunities is important for neurodiverse people and their families and to create a vibrant, modern workforce.”

ASA’s Chief Executive Officer, Geoffrey Smith, said, “We are honoured to welcome Sam Mostyn AC to our Adelaide office and see firsthand how any organisation can thrive when diversity is the focal point of how it operates. Her insights and expertise inspire our team to continue creating sustainable careers in technical professions and partner with other organisations to support them to do the same.

“ASA is a large employer of young neurodivergent people so we can share our learnings with employers and break down barriers neurodivergent people face when entering the workforce. Our aim is to change the perception of neurodiversity in the workplace and show in real time how neurodiverse minds can be positive for organisational culture and productivity.”

ASA is grateful for Sam Mostyn AC’s visit to discuss how we can make neurodiversity in the workplace mainstream across Australia. Her visit underscores ASA's dedication to providing a more inclusive and sustainable future.

About Australian Spatial Analytics

Australian Spatial Analytics (ASA) is one of Australia’s largest and fastest-growing work-integrated social enterprises. Since 2020, ASA has created geospatial and engineering careers for 200 young neurodivergent adults across Australia, who face a staggering 34% unemployment rate. ASA’s existence creates an enduring social impact for these young neurodivergent adults by providing stable and meaningful work within the big data sector—improving their confidence, resilience, well-being and long-term employment opportunities. ASA’s work also helps solve Australia’s skills shortages and data sovereignty concerns by harnessing an untapped source of highly talented people who perform essential work that otherwise occurs offshore, eliminating modern slavery risks. ASA’s ultimate aim is to transfer the employment of its young neurodivergent workforce to other inclusive organisations.
